Healthy alternatives to kitchen products which we use on a daily basis

I don't wear glasses😂

Welcome to another blog of Mridula shitting about household products.

Before we dive into the blog, I want to discuss with you something.

I recently spoke to my friend about placement and jobs.

I was not ok with the night shift. I know it will ruin my hormones, sleep, eating habits, gut, and many more.

I won't want to sacrifice my health over a job.

But while I was talking to my friend, I noticed that she is fine ding rotational jobs.

I asked her why? she said it would be difficult at first but, she would get used to it. Long story short, she cared more about her career than her health. That doesn't mean I don't care about my career. People who know me know that my job is most important to me.

Then I realized not many people care about their health at a young age and, then when the body starts failing them, they realize nothing is more important than health.

I am fortunate that I am passionate about being healthy. But not everyone. Even YOU reading this blog may not be passionate about health and reading just for the information(or because of me. Jk)

Ok coming back

Where were we? Yeh. I was talking about kitchen products we all use almost daily without knowing what is in them.

1. Jam:

I love jam. My mom loves to jam. You could see us licking the spoon off. When I was a child, I used to eat spoons and spoons of plain jam. Now becoming a little more mature and able to read ingredients, I could see it had more sugar than what I put in my milk. It has around three teaspoons of sugar. I must be in serious sugar crush then. So can I not eat jam or any spread? It's just an easy breakfast option along with bread. Then what?

Many brands are available in the market that doesn't have just sugar.

If you can't find one, I suggest you make one yourself. How?

Finely grind a cup of peanut till it becomes a paste. Before grinding, don't forget to dry roast it.

Then you get freshly made peanut butter or almond butter.

2. Ketchup:

Do you know that ketchup sauce comes from the Chinese word ke-tsiap, which means fermented fish sauce?

It is for seasoning a dish. NOT USED as a condiment as we are doing it now.

So then why is ketchup not good for health?

When you look at ingredients, you will notice that tomato is only 👌but the rest is thickeners, sugars, stabilizers, sodium, etc.

So lets make a tomato sauce at home?what say? Ada ponga vella illaya neenga kepanga.

I am just kidding. Look for the natural and fresh sauce in organic shops. Some brands make an organic sauce that contains just tomato pulp, water, jaggery, rock salt, spices, and vinegar.

3. Salt:

Now, what? Are you going to say that even the water I drink is wrong?

No. Calm down.😂 It's just a tiny thing. Just ditch the salt you are using at home. It's refined salt.

It can cause high blood pressure and lead to many diseases like heart and kidney.

Instead, replace it with rock salt. It contains many micronutrients and, it serves the same purpose as ordinary salt.

4. Honey:

Honey was a bit difficult for me because when I checked the ingredients. It was fine. I could not find any items that prove its adulteration. But you can tell honey is adultered or not. When the honey gets crystallized, then it is not adultered.

Most of the honey we use contains rice syrup, sugar, etc.

So till now, I would say I haven't found a brand that made pure honey. Till then, limit the use of it.

I will let you know if I find any brands. Sorry😓

In the end, what I wanted to say is,

I know you might be educated and can even read the labels yourself. My job is to make you aware of the products you use at home.

I used to never look at ingredients. I just used the products because that's what is available at home or was cheaper.

Don't repeat what I did

Be wise
