It's not just Acne?!

The purpose of this blog is to educate you about acne and how one should take a holistic way to approach acne
Acne, as frustrating as it sounds, robs away our confidence and makes us want to hide our faces, I am all for "You are beautiful the way you are" but skin being the largest organ of our body, your skin is the mirror to your health and well being. As much as it seems like it working against us, it shows us how much our body is struggling within. Who am I to speak about it? I was the "lucky" kid who didn't deal with many breakouts during my puberty, but then God decided to cancel my subscription. I often deal with pimples all over my face, at first I didn't care about it, I just thought it was because of my hormonal problem but it persisted throughout the year. I tried many conventional methods to treat acne-creams, home remedies, moisturizers, antibiotics(that's how badly I wanted to remove my breakouts). It did work, I will be honest, but I got dependent on it which I didn't like because I was too absent-minded to follow the methods religiously. So I started digging deep, that's when I realized I was just covering the symptoms externally( no wonder it came repeatedly when I stopped)
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF ACNE?
Dealing with acne is tough. Listening to your body is the best choice rather than fighting against it.
1. Hormonal imbalance: Imbalance in hormones can compromise the skin barrier function and it causes our skin to get prone to sun damage, redness, breakouts, etc. Balancing our hormones is key to long term skin health
2. Gut health: Never thought I would say this but eating refined foods(including chocolates) can affect your gut health which further shows on the skin. Please help me file a petition-Why does everyone say to buy chocolates for periods when it amplifies the problem?
3. Toxins: Our modern lifestyle makes it hard to live free from toxins. I thought pollution was the toxin but turns out the products that we use like makeup, soap, beauty products, dishwasher, detergents, etc all enter our skin and cause breakouts even though we wash them away(technically).
4. Stress and emotions: We all experience stress from time to time, but when it becomes chronic stress, that's when it impacts our mental and physical health. Stress is not the sole cause of acne, but it can have a major effect on the severity and frequency of breakouts.
We always ,always have a choice to remain happy and healthy.Just small steps at a time towards that:)
