Have you ever wondered about the food that you eat? Have you thought about how it affects your body and mind?
 Everything around us is energy. You might notice that you can vibe with some people whereas you don't with someone else. That's because their energy is not the same or similar level as yours.
Similarly, the food we eat, its preparation, freshness impact our minds.
Foods like fresh vegetables, rice, milk, butter, honey, fruits, nuts when eaten in the right quantity give energy and peace of mind, and foods like garlic, coffee, alcohol, fried food creates negative emotions within yourself. For example, coffee gives you that rush to awaken yourself. Drinking coffee is OK unless you don't get addicted to it.

Foods like frozen food, leftover, and meats may need more energy to digest. Such food may enhance emotions like laziness, sluggishness, and sleepiness.
As much as foods are vital, the source of foods is also important. For example, curd, when it is freshly prepared, provides probiotics and is helpful for the gut but when it becomes sour, it creates stomach burn or acidity. Similarly, curd should not be heated because the bacteria in it dies and it loses all its nutritional value and starts producing toxins, and creates diseases in the body(Remember: All your diseases arise from your gut)


Non-vegetarians eat the food for protein. Some studies point out that processed meats cause cancer, some studies say red meat causes bowel cancer whereas white meat is healthy. Latest studies say that meat, in general, reduces longevity and has higher chances of cancer. The amount of violence that animals go through before their consumption affects our minds in the form of anger, anxiety, and lethargy. (reference: Bhagavad Gita). It suggests eating foods that have less violence like sprouts, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains that is beneficial for the mind and body by providing all vital nutrients.
Fun fact: Foods high in fats and sugar can reduce your memory and ability to learn.
A study was conducted on rats. They were made to eat foods high on fats and sugar for 7 days and noticed that those rats produced fewer and thinner dendrites, ie they were not very efficient at transmitting the information through their neurons.
Do you experience a dull, foggy mind? Your diet plays an important role in it. You experience a dull sluggish mind when your digestion is not proper. Eating foods like steamed vegetables, soups, kitchidi along with spices like ginger, black pepper, turmeric, mustard seed boosts digestion. Avoid eating late at night, sleeping after meals.

Do you experience anger and irritation often? Then, it is advised to eat cooling foods like sweet, bitter, and astringent. Examples are fruits (e.g., ripe mango, red grapes, apple, pomegranate, dates), bitter vegetables( leafy greens), sprouts, ghee, rice pudding(payasam), whole wheat, oats, coconut.
 Avoid eating foods like overly spicy, fried food, chili pepper, black pepper, vinegar, citrus fruits (except lime), pickles, processed foods, alcohol, tobacco, coffee, caffeine, and excessive eating out.
Take a few deep belly breaths before each meal to calm your energy and clear your mind. Never eat while working, arguing, or in heavy conversation,
PS: Generally, people who experience anger and irritation often face stomach pain or a burning sensation.
