A human sweat regulates body temp ie. during exercise or hot weather, our body generates heat, so to cool off the body, we sweat. But you might ask why do we still sweat when we have a fever? When you have a fever, your body tries to cool down naturally by sweating. Sweating is an indication that your body is slowly recovering.

Sweating is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. When the body temperature rises, the nervous system stimulates the sweat glands to secrete water to the skin surface, by which it cools the body by evaporation.

Fun fact: A Human body has approx two to five million sweat glands.

Fun fact: Our sweat doesn't have an odor but it's the bacteria on the skin that causes odor.

Why do some people drench in sweat?

Excessive sweating can be caused by excessive physical exercise, prolonged exposure to heat or sunlight, unhealthy eating habits, or even experiencing strong emotions like anger or fear.

In the Ayurvedic text "Charak Samhita", excessive sweating is correlated with being overweight or obese. The text mentions a wide variety of problems that occur when fat tissue increases and goes beyond the normal amounts for the body.

Excessive sweating has been mentioned as one of the main problems that come with being overweight or obese.

PS: If I were you and I read this I would panic because I have body image issues.

How does antiperspirant work? – NIVEA

These are called antiperspirants. I have been using these my whole life.

The aluminum-based compounds in antiperspirants keep sweat from getting to the surface of the skin by blocking the sweat glands.

Why is aluminum present in antiperspirants?

Aluminum  is the main active ingredient in antiperspirants. When aluminum salt combines with water in your sweat, it triggers a chemical reaction, that  blocks your apocrine glands and prevents sweat from reaching the skin's  surface.

There’s a concern that if the skin absorbs these aluminum compounds, they can affect the estrogen receptors and cause breast cancer. However, according to the American Cancer SocietyTrusted Source, no clear link has been shown between cancer and aluminum in antiperspirants.

Don't feel bad about Sweating. Its part of our human body.

Cheers. XOXO
