Say cheers to DIY!!!

You can clearly tell I lack pictures at this point 😂

I have been telling everyone to use organic products on every other blog.😂

It is not only the food that should be free from toxins. All product we use inside our household needs to be toxin-free because toxic chemicals can enter the body either through the skin or consumption.

But buying organic products is not something everyone can do. Right? Especially when the buying authority of the grocery is with their parents. They control the budget and what to buy.

But that is it? Do we have to wait till we can buy on our own?

You can create DIY home products by using simple products available at home.

I have complied some DIY which I think is easy and affordable.

1. Cleaning vegetables and fruits:

We all know vegetables and fruits are filled with pesticides to protect them from spoilage. We wash the fruits and vegetables in water. Some even peel off the skin. But is it effective?

Even if we peel off the skin, the pesticides have spread inside the fruits and veggies. So, what's the answer?

Just one ingredient. BAKING SODA (NaHCO₃-I still remember. My teacher should be so proud of me rn). It degrades the pesticides. Soaking fruits and vegetables with one tablespoon of baking soda in a bucket of water for 15 mins will degrade up to 95% of the pesticides.

2. Dishwasher cleaner:

We use dishwasher cleaner to clean the plates and utensils. Imagine eating food filled with toxins from the dishwasher cleaner. Every.Single.Day.

Buying toxin-free dishwasher cleaners is the only way to go?

Not exactly.

Take three chopped lemons and 200g rock salt, 150ml white vinegar, and 1/2 liter of water and blend it nicely. Boil the liquid for 15 mins. Then store it in a jar. It doesn't provide the foam which a regular dishwasher cleaner gives. But it cleans much better than them. Also, it doesn't cause pollution to water bodies.

I know as Indians, we don't follow quantities. Just rough out the ratio and make your own.

3. Room purifier:

The regular room fresheners have phthalates which are toxic when inhaled.

Do you know, for a room freshener, you can use camphor?

Tie camphor power in a cotton cloth and keep it in a corner. It will last up to 45 days and more.

It will keep the room from odor.

The mild smell from the camphor>>>>>room spray.

4. DIY shampoo:

You can use soapnut as a shampoo. Boil a couple of soap nuts in 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Then simmer it and let it sit for 20 mins till it cooks.

Then take the liquid from the heat and let it cool down.

Then wet the hair and pour this liquid all over the head and hair (beware of eyes-it burns) and wait for 30mins. Then wash it off with water.

It has no side effects. Plus, it leaves the hair silky smooth, removes dandruff, prevents hair fall.

All these tips are easy to use and affordable.

Plus, all are natural products. So it doesn't harm the environment also.

Say cheers to DIY!
