Don't do these at home, which will sabotage your health!

 1. Avoid plastic for storing things:

We use plastic in water bottles, dhabbha, oils, cheese, etc. When food comes in contact with plastic, the toxins emitted by the plastic emits a chemical similar to the estrogen hormone. It can lead to the development of breast cancer and affects brain development in the womb.

Instead, use glass bottles or stainless steel to store food.

Even for feeding milk for babies, we use plastic feeding bottles. Nowadays, there is a stainless or glass feeding bottle. Use that for feeding babies.

Similarly, don't use aluminum foil to cover food( used to preserve the heat). When we cover hot food with aluminum foil, the aluminum leaches into the food. Research shows that daily doses of aluminum can cause Alzheimer's, zinc deficiency, thyroid problems, etc.

Instead, use a cotton cloth to wrap foods.

2. Soaking nuts before eating:

Nuts are a sure quick snack any day. It's added in making sweets, oats, etc.

But do you know that you have to soak the nuts and eat them?

Soaking nuts will remove phytic acid and soften the nuts. Soaking makes it easier to digest and assimilate the nutrients. In the case of almonds, you have to feel off the skin and eat them.

Soak nuts for 2-4 hours before eating

We soak seeds and grains for similar reasons.

3. Don't microwave food

Microwaving food is convenient. It's quick and easy.

But do you know microwaving food reduces the nutrient content of the food?

So even if you eat healthy food, you would still be deficient in nutrients. Plus, it releases harmful radiation that might cause cancer.

Limit the use of a microwave.

4. Eating chapati:

In my home, we eat idly and dosa every day. So eating chapati is like a special occasion.

But some people might find it hard to digest wheat, especially when eaten at night, which causes bloating.

So what to do then?

Combine wheat flour with other flour-like millet, oats, besan to avoid bloating.

And other tips to avoid bloating:

  • Eat ginger along with chapathi to increase digestive juices
  • Add ghee to curries for better digestion
  • More the Kneading= softer the chapathi= better digestion.

5. Heating curd:

Curd is a huge probiotic. It is best for the gut.

But eating it in the wrong way can cause serious health problems.

I am gonna expose my housemates. They eat heavy foods at night and then suffer from indigestion. Then they think eating curd will solve those problems. Little did they know that it aggravates the problem. Curd at night is difficult to digest and can cause cough, cold, and sinus.

Similarly, we add curd to curries and marination.

Curd has a lot of healthy gut bacteria. Heating the curd will kill all the bacteria, and it releases toxins which will cause skin problems, digestive problems, etc.
